Dear Ian,

With regards to our meeting, I cannot thank you enough for the impact you have had already on my commitment to and energy for the role. I noticed in the meetings that followed ours, an enthusiasm to assume the mantle and take charge.

Also when I spoke to ...... yesterday afternoon, I felt a strength and resolution and he could perceive that in my voice and in turn was relieved and overjoyed.

Thank you also for your notes - they are very comprehensive - I look forward to spending some time today on my preparation.

      Regards

Denva Scott,  Managing Director - CEO

Dear Ian

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to let others know how we feel about your input into our team building.

Chesalon Malabar is a 47 bed nursing home that is part of the Anglicare group.  We have approximately 50 staff members including both young and old and those with university degrees and those who have very little or no formal education.  We have been trying for some years to improve our teamwork both as a whole organisation and also among smaller groups of staff.  Age care is not an easy area to work in and the area of communication is particularly difficult as it involves not only communication with fellow staff members but communication with residents, family members and other professional bodies such as doctors.  Ian has been working with us over the last two years in our team building efforts to help the staff learn about effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Ian’s lectures are presented in a way that all staff can understand and involve them in thinking through the issues and contributing to the discussion.  All staff received a quality handout on the material that had been presented.  Ian uses quotes and phrases to reinforce his message and staff has often used these phrases in between sessions when talking about communication.  Staff feedback from Ian’s sessions is that they are “fun”, “interesting” and that “they learnt a lot”.

We see Ian as an important part of our continuing work to build an effective team here at Chesalon and would recommend him to anyone else trying to do a similar thing.

    Wendy Willett, Director of Nursing
