ICCC requested MBCI to conduct a survey in order to gain greater
insight and understanding of what mentoring needs of individuals
and businesses are.

individuals and business owners from a wide cross section of
commerce and industry across Australia.

to give ratings against a wide range of related areas. These
related areas included, but were not limited to topics such as
communication, ethics, leadership, accountability and personal
growth.
While

32% of respondents indicated that they are being mentored on a
regular basis and 36% are actively seeking a mentor relationship,
not all of the mentoring needs are being met in the business
community.

At the end of least need, 36% of respondents perceived the need to
develop particular skills. At the end of highest need, 68 % of
respondents reported the need for strategic thinking and business
planning skills. More than 60% of respondents consistently
indicate needs in a range of areas including, personal
performance, increasing productivity, staff development/dealing
with conflict, interpersonal/communication skills and balancing
work/personal life issues.
